About Me
Enjoying Happier, Healthier Kids

My kids have had behavioral issues since I can remember, and it hasn't always been easy to cope with the changes. I knew that I wanted to make things better, so I began thinking carefully about creating an environment where my kids could thrive. I started paying more and more attention to what they were watching on television and how it was affecting them, and believe it or not, it made a big difference. I noticed that they were a lot more respectful to me and the people around them, and it really helped. Check out this blog for great tips on enjoying happier, healthier kids.

The Top Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Beachfront Hotel

What do you need in a beachfront hotel? The ocean is an obvious answer—but not the only one. Before you book a hotel for your next warm-weather vacation, take a look at the questions to ask about any beachfront option.

What Should You Know About the Beach?

A beachfront property is important to you. But just any beach won't do. You want something special for your next vacation and that means you need to know:

  • What type of beach is nearby? Is the beach in front of the hotel a smooth, sandy beach—or is it filled with jagged rocks? Photos and a description from the hotel's staff can help you to learn more about the beach's geography.

  • Can you swim in the water? Is the surf swimmable? If you (or your family) plan to spend plenty of time in the water, make sure you won't only have a pool to choose from.

  • What beach activities are available? Swimming isn't the only way to enjoy the beach. Ask about other ocean/oceanside activities, such as surfing lessons, beach volleyball, or horseback riding.

Now that you know more about what's outside of your future resort room's door, it's time to take the next step and learn about the entertainment, events, and activities available on dry land.

What Activities Are Available On-Site?

Even though you could bike or drive to local entertainment venues, you may prefer the convenience of on-site activities. If you have no plans to leave the immediate area, but want to pack your vacation with entertaining fun, you need to know:

  • What are the dining options? A meal on vacation is more than just a way to get necessary nutrients. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are entertainment options that you may enjoy just as much as other more active events.

  • Are there family-friendly activities? If you're traveling with children, ask about entertainment ideas that are appropriate for the smaller set.

  • What types of events or entertainment do you offer? These could include anything from concerts to a formal cocktail hour.

  • Do you offer relaxing activities? Your vacation won't solely revolve around excitement and adventures. Ask the hotel's staff about claiming spa sessions, relaxing yoga classes, or similar activities that they may offer.

Keep in mind, not every beachfront property offers guests the same experiences. While some may book live musical entertainment nightly, others may focus more on spa or sports activities. This makes it important to speak with a knowledgeable staff member or the concierge. These travel industry professionals can help you to understand the on-site entertainment options and possibly make suggestions for other activities you may enjoy nearby or within walking distance.
